Sometimes I think it is worth drawing attention to some really interesting entries in the Literature community. So here goes

I think you are asking a really important question here Cass... and you think about it with real empathy. It is this kind of thinking that can produce a great story that can in fact go some of the way towards remedying this incapacity to act that we all feel from time to time. You are not alone in this. But turn it to good use. I strongly suggest you begin trying to compose a story using these ingredients... entering fully into the mind of that woman... that could be a really cathartic experience for you and could powerfully help you next time you meet a similar situation.

S.- that is a fabulous piece of writing. Be sure to put your name at the end of it. This ensures that it is covered by Commons Copyright. I love the atmosphere you are able to create through both the movement of your sentences and your evocative word choice. Well done.... and yes, we have your URL, but this key entry was missed.

Dan, that is a fabulous poem. So pleased that the theme, together with Levertov and Frost, spoke to you so deeply and so directly. Your poem attests to this and you have developed a powerful use of form to capture those moments of experience that are really precious to us. Well done! Keep up this creative response to your literature reading.

MG, I loved this idea of 'spotlighting' the LJ's and entries of the week. I hope you can do this more regularly as it opens us up to LJ's we may have failed to add to the friends list, or friend's entries that get sucked up by the long roll of the friends page.
Even though I'm not technically around anymore, I still enjoy reading good entries, and this makes them more accessible

Glad that works for you.... and I notice that you - like the rest of the world- are "facebooking" now... do you have any kind of critical perspective on how "Facebook" matches up to "livejournal"... what can it/can't it do... or are they all much the same once you scratch the surface? Thanks for your comment. I plan to do this spotlighting regularly from now on

Well, I'd say that facebook is the 'waste of time-er' and LJ the 'I have something serious to say' platform. Facebook has certainly taken over the function of silly quizes and memes, and witty updates, but the very nature of Facebook means that it won't replace blogging.
I think Facebook will actually make blogging 'cleaner'. Or silly, often compulsive need to rant or post things of little worth will be serviced by Facebook or twitter and blogging will become a much more considered, serious endeavour.
