Dress Rehearsal of Michael Gow's Away at Wahroonga

About Reflections on Literature, Life and the Imagination

Previous Entry Dress Rehearsal of Michael Gow's Away at Wahroonga Dec. 18th, 2006 @ 10:04 pm Next Entry
Yesterday (Sunday) our C group (Sacred Australia) were invited to present their Christmas Play (Michael Gow's Away) to the Quakers at their "Friends Meeting House" in Wahroonga. This was a wonderful occasion at which our drama group performed to a capacity crowd with the Wahroonga Bushland singing through the windows behind the stage:

The Quakers were so appreciative of all our efforts in bringing this play about "Transformation" to life. They provided us with a wonderful lunch and lots of interest in our efforts towards creating this play. We ourselves found it very useful to discover those areas of our performance (how we were standing, how we were projecting our voices, whether the sound and lighting was appropriate etc etc....) that needed tightening up.... we will be able to target these areas with more confidence at our rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon at 1pm....
It needs to be said that we sorely missed Anissa on the day... and we know that she sorely missed us!... but all's well that ends well to quote the Bard... there are 2 positive outcomes. One: Helen's friend Courtnay got to "star" in the show! and we- all now thoroughly rehearsed- can provide a fantastic context for the "real" Anissa as she appears on our "real" stage on Tuesday evening......
Here are some more images of the day.... some of us enjoying our time before the show in the fabulous bush grounds of the Quaker Meeting House.

and we musn't leave out Tom (the Tank Engine) who made a special effort to come and be our sound effects for the show:
