MA Drama Week 9

Did we have fun yesterday with the bard's "A Midsummer Night's Dream"- we managed to introduce and discuss questions about how the language of drama is different from fiction and poetry- how it draws on the expressive power of all the other art forms: painting, music, dance, sculpture.... Drama is an art form that is a marriage of a variety of expressive media... and then we got stuck into Bottom, Peter Q and his crazy crew of would-be actors. We also compared the prosaic, rough-shod language of Shakespeare's artisans with the richly textured language of the King and Queen of the fairies, Oberon and Titania... the incredible versatility of Shakespeare as he shapes the language to create his magical effects.... and here are three of the illustrious caste (Tania: Snug- the Lion's part; John: Flute- Thisbe; Reza: Starveling- Thisbe's mother) taking a well earned muffin break in the sunshine outside MA HQ.... see you all next week:
