Using the line “Turn away no more”
(from the last stanza of Blake’s Introduction to Songs of Experience)
compose a short poem in the mode of the Songs that addresses the 21st Century.
2/ Imagine you are one of the young artists (John Linnel or Samuel Palmer) who met Blake in his very last years. Write a letter to a friend telling them of the discovery you feel you have made through this friendship with this crazy old artist who no one seems to care for. What are your hopes and expectations from this friendship?
3/ Chose any one of the Songs that have really touched your feeling and imagination in the last week and write in prose or verse a short piece that explains how the poem amplifies your own sense of what is important in life for you today..
